Merging Ambition with Purpose: Empowering the Next Generation of Sustainable Entrepreneurs At Keystone School

What if business creation was focused not merely on commercial success, but on shaping a better world?

As an international school rooted in project-based learning through our signature Idealoom framework, and dedicated to sustainability, Keystone School operates on the principle that education must equip young people for future careers while instilling the duty to shape a better tomorrow. This core conviction inspired our recent Idealoom interactive dialogue. 

On 14th August, high school students from Keystone School, Keystone Integrated Preparatory Programme (KIPP), gathered for an engaging session with Vishal Raj, TVSM, Founder and Chairman of the Environment Conserving Organisation (E.C.O.), a young environmental leader, entrepreneur, and climate action advocate.   Beginning his environmental journey at the age of 14, Vishal transformed a small student eco-club into the Environment Conserving Organisation (E.C.O.), a youth-led movement working across multiple cities. His journey demonstrates that impactful change does not always begin with resources, influence, or experience.

Sometimes, it begins with a young person noticing a problem and asking, “What can I do about it?”

For our IBDP students, this was perhaps the most important lesson.

Entrepreneurship with a Purpose

Students today inhabit a world defined by extraordinary possibilities and complex global challenges. Addressing these challenges requires redefining entrepreneurship to focus on solving real-world problems ethically rather than just generating profit. Idea Loom at Keystone embodies this approach by encouraging students to identify real problems, ask meaningful questions, experiment, learn from setbacks, collaborate, and create impactful solutions. Vishal's efforts in lake restoration, tree conservation, animal welfare, climate education, and youth campaigns show how ecological challenges foster creative innovation and purposeful action. A key takeaway is that turning inspiring ideas into lasting impact requires proactive initiative, perseverance, and genuine accountability.

What This Means for CAS

For IBDP students, Vishal's experience provides a meaningful perspective on CAS. Rather than serving as a checklist of tasks to fulfill, CAS is designed to demonstrate a deeper process: engaging with something that matters, sustaining commitment to it, reflecting on progress, and generating a positive impact. His trajectory captures that framework well: a personal focus taken up at age of fourteen, built into long-term commitment, and reaching further than he likely first imagined. Not a model to duplicate, but a tangible example of what CAS is all about.

From Idea to Action

Moving from an idea to meaningful change demands resilience and action. One of the strongest messages from the session was the importance of moving beyond ideas.

Young people often have extraordinary ideas, what's harder is the initiative and accountability it takes to carry one through.

Vishal’s journey- from starting young to building an organisation and leading sustainability-focused initiatives- showed students that they do not have to wait until they are older to make a difference.

They can begin by identifying challenges around them and understanding their communities even at a young age. 

Inspiring the Changemakers and  Redefining Success The session also encouraged students to rethink what success means.

Success is not only about the career one builds, the position one holds, or the financial milestones one achieves. True success is measured by the value we create for others and the positive footprint we leave behind.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, this means asking a larger question:

Can I build something that is successful while also being responsible?

The answer is increasingly important in a world where businesses and individuals are expected to think about their environmental and social impact.

Vishal Raj’s story reminds our students that they can dream ambitiously without losing sight of responsibility.
