Project Inspiration

I often found it hard to balance my social life, academics and mental health. Between juggling all three, I started to question why mental health was overlooked when striving for overall balance.

This curiosity led me to realise that my friends were also struggling, which strengthened my motivation to explore an effective solution. After reviewing some existing approaches and finding them inadequate, I became determined to create something more meaningful. I believe this was the beginning of my project.

Real-World Observations and Insights

During the Warangal trip, I had the opportunity to discuss mental health with people from various backgrounds and age groups. These conversations offered new insights and gave me a clearer understanding of how widespread and diverse mental health challenges can be.

To gain a more accurate picture, I also reached out online to individuals of similar age groups. This helped me recognise how factors such as age and background significantly influence mental health experiences.

Idea Evolution and Research Process

My initial plan was to create a website and promote it using a chatting-based support system. However, after researching existing platforms, I realised that such solutions already existed.

Discussions with peers made me rethink the approach, leading me towards a product with deeper emotional impact. This guided me to consider writing a book as my solution. To refine this idea, I created a mind map to evaluate its advantages and disadvantages and to visualise the direction of the project.

Proposed Solution and Intended Impact

Although I chose to pursue the idea of writing a book, I was not able to outline every detail I intended to include. As a result, the information I currently have is limited.

The core idea of the product is to inspire readers through the character’s development, allowing them to relate emotionally and gain clarity about their own mental wellbeing.

Learning Outcomes, Challenges, and Skills Developed

This project taught me the value of diverse perspectives. Each person I interacted with had a unique viewpoint that contributed meaningfully to my understanding.

One of the major challenges I faced was losing continuity in my project due to confusion about the process and my original ideas.

To overcome this, I created a flowchart and a stage-wise plan to organise and realign my thoughts. Through this process, I strengthened key skills such as empathy, communication, and persistence.

Future Directions and Improvements

I believe the most effective way to improve my solution is to reach out to my target audience and gather their feedback.

Understanding their reactions will help me refine the idea further and ensure that the final product truly resonates with their needs and expectations.

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my friends for inspiring this idea and offering meaningful feedback throughout my journey.

Their support helped me remain focused, especially during moments when I struggled with clarity or creative direction.
